Oh hey there sweet boy! #32weeks #charlesito18 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This past month was scary with all the bombs in Austin. It hits harder when its so close to your home, when it could be anyone you know. It makes me wonder what was missing in the bombers life, why did he do it?? I'm feeling a little more relief now...and trying to keep all happy thoughts: springtime, flowers, and warm weather. Not to ignore the bad news, but to focus on the good. I want our baby to be happy and @corazon_y_alma and I will do our best to give him all the love and to raise him to be a loving and respectful man.

#sixmonths I can't believe it has already heen half a year with our sweet baby! You met more family during thanksgiving, and tried sweet potatoes for the first time!! You really want to start crawling and are so so close! We celebrated your 6 months at #cota you only opened your eyes once 😅 @corazon_y_alma gave them a solid 6/10 which is an improvement from 4/10 last year. I give them a solid 7 bc I wish they had a live band and that we could go around the track. The pandas were cute and the mexican hot chocolate on point 👌#watchmegrowcfr3

Lots of adventures with my Charles' at the end of the year. 2018 brought us our sweet baby, restless nights and lots of joy. He now has two bottom teeth! I heard him giggle for real yesterday. I was blowing big soap bubbles in his bath and popping them 💦 made him giggle so hard. It is the best to see that smile 💥 I always wondered how moms could bathe their kid all the time. I guess is a must if you dont want the stinky kid 🙈...but I thought of it as...boring. But seeing him play with the water and just discover everything, makes me see the world through his eyes, with wonder at even the most basic things.

On the last day to 2019.
This past year we did a challenge each month with @corazon_y_alma. Some of them included reading challenge, 10k steps per day, veggetarian month, no social media (the hardest for me) minimalism challenge (no buying any non-consumables) etc. On the days that we failed we paid a fee. Over the year we raised a few hundred of dollars but we had never discussed what to do with it.

Cut to the summer of 2019, when Charles' young cousin Elianna (she was 18 yo) passed away unexpectedly due to lupus.
With the approval of her family ( @ajoy4life7 ) we have set up two scholarship in her name to help a high school student next year. The Elianna Ariel Nursing Scholarship and Elianna Ariel Band Scholarship are now open (**check links below*). All this to say, we miss Elianna, and want to do something good in her name. Today we saw a police car approaching us at the park. Charlesito was on my back. It stopped and rolled down his window. "How are you all doing?" He asked. "We are well." I said as I buckled Charles onto his stroller. "Well, I might have something for him", he said as he handed me a sticker to give to him. Charles has been begging for a sticker for a while but we don't have any at the moment. The police drove away and I looked down to see my son had a big smile on his face. It's something small, but a good positive encounter between my son and the police.

My three year old. I can just remember how I held you for the first time, how we locked eyes and how good it felt to just hold you. You are kind. You are strong, you are so emotional. I love you. I love this awesome human you are becoming. Your favorite show is blippi and your favorite books are things that go and the pout pout fish abc's. You love to point all the construction cars and have forced me to learn the difference between a backhoe, bulldozer and an excavator 🤣 who would have known? You think garbage trucks are so cool too. You love animals and 🦖🦕 and can even remember some of their scientific names. You love 💦 and splashing. You have grown so much, specially this past 6 months as you became an older brother.
