Today I went to Charlie's school to participate in story time and to celebrate his bday. He listened and told his friends about his adventures. He walked around the sun four times. I looked at his classmates and smiled. They were so engaged and so eager to learn.
A school should be safe.A school shouldn't be a place that we dread to take our kids to because we don't know if they will be there when we picked them up.
At the end of the day, as he graduated from this school...all the kids got to say what they wanted to be when they grew up.
Charlie said "baseball and football player"
I also paid close attention to his friends dreams: "firefighter" "scientist" "police" "mom" and "teenager" the last one hit me hard. Some parents laughed,..and I might have joined any other day...but it is no joke that the 19 kids shot in Uvalde, TX. Won't get to be teenagers and beyond.

Enough is enough. I can't imagine leaving my kids and them not being there when I come to pick them up. My heart is heavy. 💔
